They are worse than traditional gas cars. When an electric car gets made makes about 31 tons of co2 a regular car would be 35. The difference will always be somewhere between 3 to 5 tons. So not that big of a difference not any at all really. There is a a famous saying about these cars by Sun Microsystems he says, " Electric cars are coal-powered cars". Meaning that it takes a lot of electricity to power these cars. So it takes big factories that require tons of coal which causes tons of pollution. Now the comeback for Electric cars would be that the factories cause pollution outside of the cities while the electric car wont do inside like regular cars. But the truth is that to maintain these cars cause much more pollution than the regular cars and regular factories combined.
